carbonated beverage production line material routes

Application context changes how a carbonated beverage production line is specified. Carbonation target, transfer pressure, and whether the same corridor must also run still or hot-fill drinks all affect blending turndown, filler valves, and cooling. This page does not certify a line for every recipe; it lists questions factories should answer against your duty cycle and feedstock.

Material route

Operating context
A carbonated beverage production line starts with deaeration, blending and carbonation, then moves through filling, closure contact, cooling and labeling. Viscosity, flow rate, and CO2 volumes must be declared; copying a still-drink bottles-per-hour figure hides those limits. Where temperature and contact-time records are captured during hot filling, they belong to a different process envelope than carbonation set-points.
  1. Material route: Upstream

Confirm incoming water quality, ingredient storage, and who supplies the blender. Public descriptions of combined deaeration, blending and carbonation units are useful for asking where recipe concentration and carbonation are measured; they are not a substitute for a supplier drawing of your hall.

  2. Control boundary

Ask where temperature and contact-time records are captured if any SKU is hot-filled, and where CO2 and Brix are recorded for carbonated SKUs. Name the PLC interface owner between mixer buffering and filler. Representative production samples must match the commercial bottle and closure.

  3. Downstream

Cooling and labeling cap packaged output even when the filler nameplate is higher. Include changeover minutes, CIP, and how off-specification carbonated product is vented or dumped. Compare upstream and downstream interfaces before selecting a factory.

Duty Primary measurement Interface risk Sample to send
Carbonated soft drink CO2 volumes and blender output (liters/hour) Transfer pressure to filler Commercial recipe plus bottle and closure
Still juice Brix and flow rate Missing water-treatment scope Concentrate and reconstitution water data
Hot-fill beverage Fill temperature (°C) and contact time (s) Cooling tunnel bottleneck Process authority document, not only filler range
Mixed SKU hall Changeover minutes and CIP Shared tanks without isolation SKU list with viscosity and carbonation flags
